As a kindergarten teacher, although currently on parental leave and changing my mind a bit during this time, I had to draw many things, often spontaneously, when asked by one of the children when I didn’t have the opportunity to prepare myself and see how to draw it somewhere. And since my inborn artistic skills are at… hmm… let’s just say that on an average satisfactory level, the effect was not always nice to the eye, but funny, and that’s also an advantage, after all, it’s good to see a smile on children’s faces. But the fact that I’m not currently active in the profession doesn’t mean that I’ve been exempted from drawing all kinds of things, my own child makes sure that I’m not out of practice. Sometimes she asks me for such pictures that I wonder where in her two and a half year old head such ideas come from. So in our house, any book that shows you how to draw something, in such a way that you can guess what it is, is very desirable. Especially if they are not very demanding projects, but ones that look fabulous, so they are nice to the little one’s eye.
What’s inside the book?
In this particular part we will find advice on how to draw over a hundred drawings, step by step, as the cover says – super-sweet. So be it. It’s definitely worth emphasizing that the grits in this book are very varied, and this is a big advantage, because there is a good chance that looking here, you will find what you want to draw. We have here a division into people and faces, food, animals – we like it the most, the world of fantasy, seasons and holidays and everyday life. As you can see, the table of contents offers a lot of possibilities, because each of these chapters contains instructions for several drawings.
Certainly a big advantage is the fact that the drawings are not very complicated, so in fact, each of us, adults, will manage this task, if not the first time, then after a few attempts. What’s more, I think that it’s possible to successfully pass this book on to older kids as well. Thanks to the fact that everything is shown here step by step, older children can easily try to make their own drawings. And it’s really fun, thanks to the variety of topics – for a girl and for a boy.
In this publication, yes, we have given ready-made solutions on how to draw something, but the author also encourages experimentation, suggesting suggestions to let go of the imagination and replace certain elements with something else. This is a very interesting proposition, because it encourages not only the creative activities, but also those that trigger creativity in us.
It is worth noting that the book has room not only for advice from the author, but also for our own drawings. Each spread contains pictorial instructions on how to draw something and next to it a place to do it, so this book will be filled with our creativity! That’s why it’s a great gift idea for a slightly older kid. I think she’ll like it.
Summary
“Cute Kawaii. Doodles” is a fairly small book, so you can take it with you and on a journey, and to a place where we’ll have to wait in line. Thanks to it and a few crayons we will spend this time nicely, creatively and differently than, for example, playing on the phone or watching movies, which is, after all, a common sight in various types of waiting rooms.
I also like the fact that the degree of difficulty of the drawings is quite different – some are really simple to make, others are a bit more difficult, so they already require some accuracy and precision of movement. And that’s cool, because it makes the publication suitable for a very wide audience – and for older preschoolers, and for school-age children, and for us adults, who are often faced with childish requests to draw something. And most importantly, it is a good opportunity to spend time together!
