Serial Killer Trivia – Michelle Kaminsky

A long awaited review, a very specific book “Serial Killer Trivia”, which describes the shocking events, the atrocities they went to and the tools of the crime they used. Let’s start by asking ourselves who the serial killer is. The answer is quite frightening, since he is usually a normal, seemingly indistinguishable individual. The only feature that distinguishes him (or her) from the rest of the society is his or her scrupulously concealed love to track down his or her victims and then murder them, depending on the “likes” of men, women, children, and even all at once. Terrifying!

What’s inside the book?

And what do we find in the book? I think it’s best to quote a passage from the introduction here:

“We, on the other hand, whether it’s for the purpose of getting to know the perpetrators better and preventing murder, or out of unhealthy curiosity, we delve into the stories of the killers. We look at their fates, from their (almost always tragic and violent) childhood, through the period when they committed their horrible crimes, to their own death, often directed by a judicial authority or fellow inmates”.

The book was constructed in a very interesting way. It consists of one hundred and fifty questions, divided into six chapters, arranged in such a way as to gradually give ourselves the knowledge we want for some reason. Here I myself wondered why I am attracted to such reading and came to the conclusion that I am probably curious about the functioning of such monsters’ brains. And so in the first chapter such basic questions were asked as: who invented the phrase “serial killer”, which country issued the most of them, how they most often kill, what is the sex, race and level of intelligence of such people.

In the second chapter we go one step further and meet the most famous serial killers. Among others, Jeffrey Dahmer is discussed here, who injected hydrochloric acid into the victims’ brains in order to keep them alive but at the same time to deprive them of consciousness. The author also asks here how a murderer got away with selling skeletons of the victims to students for a long time!

In the third part we will get to know the most famous serial killers such as Aileen Wuornos and Juan Barraz. We will also find out what two serial killers the actress Veronica Compton had an affair with, did she do it knowing who the women she met were?

In chapter four we go out into the world and meet the murderers from Afghanistan, Colombia, Ecuador and many other countries. Additionally, we will find out which member of the Chinese imperial family is one of the first known stories of serial killers.

After getting to know the “cream of the company” in the next part, the author will introduce us to slightly lesser known characters, but as disgusting as the previous ones. And so, at the very beginning, we will meet a duo who made a commemorative bedspread from the clothes of their victims. In the next part we will find out which two killers took part in the quiz shows, simultaneously murdering. In the last sixth chapter, we will stop for a moment over the unresolved cases and those still in progress. And so there will be a few words about “The Honolulu Strangler,” who, at least officially, has not yet been identified, as well as about “The Oakland infanticide” and many others.

I must honestly admit that the book is extremely interesting, but also very heavy and overwhelming. The murderers described in the book, as well as the actions they committed, often made me nauseous. I could not read more than a few questions and answers at once. I tried to do it in such a way that from time to time during the day I took the book and faced three or four issues. This is really a position for people with strong nerves and a resistant stomach, especially when we find out that one of the villains was playing cannibalism and another was drinking the blood of the victims! The only thing I missed in the book was a more in-depth psychological analysis of the criminals.

I consider the book to be the most worthy of interest and recommendation. We’ll find in it information about human monsters from this world. If some silhouette interests us more, then we can look for further information about it on our own and on our own.
